Yes. If you have steam, then Red Orchestra is free this week! Download it and play it! It's a WWII FPS, and it's super realistic. It's got everything DOD:S has and more...LOTS more. First off, NONE of the guns have crosshairs (except the sniper rifle when you're zoomed in with it). You can either fire the weapon from your hip (at a GREAT loss of accuracy...but sometimes necessary up close), or you can "Aim" the weapon with the Ironsights ("Aim" is bound to a button and you click it and he raises the gun to eye level and you can fire it). The Ironsights aren't perfectly stable though, if you're standing it moves a bit, if you're crouched, a bit less, and if you're prone (yes you can go prone) a lot less. However, if you're either standing or crouched near an object and facing the object, your guy will steady the rifle against the object and your aim will improve.
Speaking of shooting, when you get fired at, if a bullet near-misses you, a motion blur effect appears on your screen along with the "whizz" noise of the bullet. This is how they implemented suppressive fire. It's nearly impossible to aim at an MG when he's firing at your area because of this...you just have to find a way around him. The MG's (both Axis and Allied) have "tracer rounds." So the bullets glow a bit when fired. This helps you when you're firing one, so you can see where your shots are going, and it helps your teammates know where you're providing covering fire. However, it also helps the other team know where you are shooting from. So kind of a double-edged sword.
Wounding in this game is done via a little HUD in the corner showing where you've been shot. You can get shot in almost every part of your body...legs, arms, chest, hands...etc. And each part carries a different penalty. If you're shot in the legs you don't sprint as fast (yes, there's a sprint key), if you're shot in the chest, you can't sprint for as long (you get winded easily). Hand/Arm shot effect your aim, not to mention that if you get shot in the hand whild carrying a gun, you'll drop the gun. You can go back and get it if you want though.
Voice communication is done in the game as well. You have 3 types of voice communication: Local, Team, Public. Local means that only the guys that are physically standing around you can hear you talking. Most servers I played on had ONLY this option on. So you could only hear commands from your commander when he was near you telling you what to do. Team voice chat is just that. Just like in Counterstrike. In the servers I played on where this was enabled, only the Team Commander (more on him later) was "allowed" (enforced by admins) to use this voice chat. And just about every server I played had Public voice chat off. You couldn't talk to the other team. Also, there are voice commands, similar to counterstrike and DOD. You hit the "v" key and there's lots of stuff to choose from. The actual stuff your guy yells is in either Russian or German (depending on which team you're playing) but the translation comes up for your teammates (you just hear the Russian or German if you're on the other team).
Team Commanders are running around the field shooting just like everyone else. However, they have binoculars that they can use to either "Set Rally Points" (that everyone on the team can see) or to "Set Coordinates for an Air Strike". This doesn't actually CALL IN the airstrike, he just collects the coordinates. Then someone (anyone on the team), can use a radio (there are some located throughout the map in radio stations/towers) to actually call in the strike. When an airstrike happens you hear the plane fly over head (don't actually see it) and the ground EXPLODES. It's pretty cool.
Anyway, that's just a FEW features of the game, I didn't even go into the Tanks you can drive or the details of the classes like the Engineer that can blow up walls and doors and stuff to provide access into areas of the map..etc. Get in the game!
P.S.- A pet peeve of mine about CS:S and DOD:S is that when you die, the camera pans to whoever killed you. Making sniping all but useless. In this game, it doesn't do that.
