Name: Forland Class: Wizard Race: Human D&D Experience: Roughly 10 years.
'Ello folks, Forland here, figured some of you newer folks might want to do some mock fights or something in here, to learn how battle system works and everything. D&D is hard at first, but easy after the first time. But remains fun. For those of you that don't know, this is Kevin. Well, I hope we can get most questions and everything out of the way so that the game runs smoothly when we finally start. Good luck, and don't be scared to ask, we prefer answering questions now as opposed to in the middle, as it might cause a slight pause in the game, and on a message board, that could be a few days pause, heh heh.

Name: Aeranin Cas'emar Class: Rogue Race: Elf-kind Well, I'm just posting here, so a "human" wasn't the only poster to this forum. Although I've never played a rogue before, I like to play elves. Any elf worth his ears knows that elves are naturally superior to all other races in the Realms. I'm not trying to be arrogant; just trying to sway anyone's judgement who is planning creating a character. Don't get me wrong, humans have their uses. But, where other races rush in, elves exercise contemplation and caution. -Patience- A virtue of elves and dragons- -Aeranin

Ahh, Humans. While elves may be cautious, humans are ambitious. We control magics at such young ages that Elves would not even attempt because of their cautious nature. We strive for much more in our short life span than do most elves in their entire lifetime. Humans are also the most diverse of all races, one may be a psychotic killer, while another may be as wise as the wisest elf. Which is why it is hard to generalize humans except to say that they do not live as long as most. Look back through history to almost all of the biggest events in the world's history. There you'll most likely find a human at it's roots. Either helping, or causing the problem.

On the contrary, my human associate. It is true that elves can be reserved after reaching their 3rd or 4th century, however, many of the hot-blooded youths of the elven community have molded and shaped the history of this world. Yet, we live on for centuries past any other race, barring dragons. Although a human can quickly waste his limited lifespan in pursuits of passion, we settle down after 400 yrs of adventure and many roads traveled. You see, elves are completely alien to humans. We came to Toril from another world. We have different physiology... gods... customs... language... culture! We elves prefer to live in harmony with nature while humans, for the most part, prefer to conquer it. From a more neutral viewpoint, humans ease at grasping magic and technology, their unbelievable birthrate, and their ability to adapt to nearly any environment is something that almost impresses us. However, their hubris at laying claim to all they survey is idiotic and condescending to any natives already within 'their' lands. On personal levels, elves see humans as either intelligent, friendly folk slightly in awe of them or as bigoted, close-minded hostiles whose only motivations are power and greed and only actions are to fight and kill. In the end, a human's short lifespan is only a mere tenth of an elves. We often practice caution when making friends with non-elven races. No matter how true a friendship there might be, we elves are reluctant to open ourselves up to the pain of losing good friends; even if one of us should befriend a human and his progeny, we will outlive our old friend's great grandchildren. So, you see. Elves are a not do not just idly stand by. We are born of magic and end of magic. Such is the life of "Tel Quessir".
